PHOTOGRAPHING A SAINT

PHOTOGRAPHING A SAINT

A little prelude to Mother Teresa’s canonization.

In addition to the interviews I have done for “Vatican Insider” with Fr. Bill Petrie who worked in India for 25 years with Mother Teresa, and Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk, MC, postulator for her cause for canonization, I have another treat from a new friend, Michael Collopy.

Michael is a photographer who followed Mother Teresa for 15 years and, with her cooperation, produced the book, “Works of Love Are Works of Peace” (Ignatius Press), a stunning work now out in soft cover.

A painting of one of Michael’s photographs has been chosen to be the official sainthood image of Mother Teresa. The image will be revealed at the canonization and then it will be in the homes of the Missionaries of Charity worldwide.

In addition, another picture from the book was used in creating the official Saint Teresa stamp by the Vatican to be released September 2nd, and has just been used to grace the cover of Time magazine for the 3rd time! Michael (I’ll be interviewing him when he is in town for the September 4 canonization!) just sent me the TIME cover image!
