POPE BENEDICT REMAINS BROUGHT TO ST. PETER’S
The body of the late pontiff arrived at 7:15 this morning in St. Peter’s Basilica from the Mater Ecclesiae monastery where he had lived for almost 10 years. Cardinal Gambetti, archpriest of the basilica, blessed the body and led a brief prayer service. Benedict XVI lies just in front of the papal altar and the stairway down to the Confessio.
